"Rob has been working with my daughter for the last 4 years and I can honestly say that without his support, explanation and focus on areas of difficulty she would not have remained in top set. Thanks to his hard work she completed a GCSE in Statistics in year 9 and now in year 11 is sitting 2 Maths GCSEs – no easy task alongside all demands of the other curriculum areas. Rob spends time in tutor sessions understanding my daughter's strengths and weaknesses and giving her coping strategies to deal with and use these to her advantage. Rob brings work that dovetails with her school curriculum and has empowered her to share areas where she needs clarification. We are so pleased as a family of his work he is staying on after my daughter completes her GCSEs to work with my other two children in year 5 and 6 as they start to begin the transition into secondary school."
"Rob was incredible with my son. He had been predicted a grade 3 in maths, was disengaged, and had little interest in improving. His work was poorly laid out and often unreadable. From day one, Rob managed to connect with him. Over time, he not only strengthened his understanding of maths but also taught him to take pride in his work — to slow down, read questions carefully, and check his answers properly. My son genuinely wanted to make Rob proud. He began to enjoy his lessons, the "fog" started to clear, and his confidence grew. He moved up sets and, most importantly, rediscovered belief in himself. Rob made learning fun and gave him a real sense of ownership and pride in what he produced. He went on to achieve a fantastic grade 8."
"We feel incredibly fortunate to have found Rob. As a home-educating family, securing the right maths tutor has been one of our biggest challenges. After trying several options that didn't suit our children's needs, finding Rob was an absolute turning point. From the very beginning, his approach was different. He sees each child as an individual and meets them exactly where they are — without judgement, pressure, or assumptions. He brings a calm, steady presence that instantly puts them at ease, and has an intuitive ability to reframe concepts in new ways until they genuinely click. The change in both children has been wonderful to witness. My daughter is now approaching maths with far more belief in herself. My son's comprehension has deepened significantly, and he is far more secure in his methods. What stands out most is that neither of them feels 'behind' — they feel capable. Rob has given them confidence, clarity, and a renewed relationship with maths. We cannot recommend him highly enough."
"On behalf of our senior leadership team, families and students, thank you for delivering such an engaging and informative careers workshop for our Year 10 students. Your enthusiasm and positivity helped our scholars gain a valuable insight into the world of work - even those who were shy or out of their comfort zone came away with a much clearer understanding of workplace skills and how to develop them."
"Rob has been an incredible support to our daughter over several years, building both her confidence and genuine enjoyment of maths. His calm, patient approach encourages her to tackle challenges without pressure, while still being thoughtfully stretched in her learning. We have seen very positive progress not only in her ability, but also in her mindset. We are truly grateful for the impact he has had on her mathematical journey."
"Rob has been a great help to my two children; he supported my daughter through her GCSE Maths and is now tutoring her younger brother. Rob adapts to learners' needs and styles of learning and is really friendly putting them at ease. We are so grateful for his help. Highly recommended."

I'm passionate about supporting learning in every way I can. The resources here are designed to make a real difference—whether that's helping parents guide their children through exam preparation, or making essential maths skills enjoyable and accessible for young learners.
My Times Tables songs were created to inspire children with a resource that's both fun and engaging for students and teachers alike. Each song has been deliberately created in multiple different pop music genres, with new versions in different styles being released all the time. The lyrics to each song remain the same across all versions—allowing for familiar repetition that helps learning stick, while overcoming the monotony that can come from hearing the same tune over and over again. Learning doesn't have to feel like work—it can be memorable, motivating, and even enjoyable. The full suite of complete songs is available on my Payhip page. New resources will be added here from time to time, all with the same goal: to help learners build confidence and achieve their potential.

Common questions about tutoring sessions and how I work
I offer both options to suit your needs. While I'm happy to travel to your home for in-person sessions across south Somerset, I also provide online tutoring via Microsoft Teams. For online sessions, I use a graphics tablet and interactive online software to clearly explain and demonstrate concepts and techniques, making the experience just as effective as face-to-face teaching.
Progress depends on several factors, including the student's starting ability and their commitment to practice between sessions. While I can't guarantee specific outcomes, in around 90% of cases, noticeable improvements in confidence and performance begin to show within approximately three months of starting regular tuition. Consistent effort both during and between sessions makes the biggest difference.
The free consultation is an opportunity for you, your child, and me to get acquainted without any obligation. We'll discuss your child's current ability level, identify any specific topics you'd like to address early on, and explore their learning style. I'll explain how sessions work, emphasize the importance of practice between lessons, and confirm what equipment will be needed for each session. It's a relaxed, informal conversation to ensure we're a good fit.
While I don't provide formal progress reports as standard, these can absolutely be arranged if you'd like regular updates. As exams approach, we focus heavily on past papers, and from these I provide tailored lists of suggested revision topics based on the areas where your child needs the most support. Communication is always open—just let me know what works best for you.
I hold a BEd (Hons) degree and have over 30 years of experience in education, supporting learners from primary through to secondary level and adults.
